Apple has issued a public apology on its Chinese website to customers whohave expressed growing anger over the company's local policies for dealing withfaulty products.In the statement, Apple's CEO, Tim Cook said that over thepast two weeks, Apple has received feedback concerning its warranty policies inChina and the company has "reflected" on this.The company has been coming under pressure to review its warranty processwhere faulty components are often swapped out, but facias and casings returnedto the customer. This was considered discriminatory by Chinese consumers as inmost other countries, Apple replaces the entire product."We are aware that due to insufficient communication, the public holds theidea that Apple is arrogant, disregards or pays little attention to the feedbackof consumers," read a Chinese statement to consumers signed by Cook and postedon Apple China's Web site."Therefore, we want to express our sincere apology for any concern ofmisunderstanding arising from the process,"The state-run television and the Communist Party's own newspaper have bothbeen vocal in criticizing the company in recent weeks -- which is often a signthat the government is preparing a clampdown on something it dislikes.Apple still maintained though that "nearly 90 per cent of consumers aresatisfied with our warranty policies.""Apple is making greater efforts to ensure Apple Authorised ServiceProviders follow our policies and offer high quality services to consumers,"Cook said in the statement.
Aruba Networks has reported that its first-fiscal quarter revenues rose by 21percent to US$144.5 million, while the net loss deepened to US$0.8 million fromUS$0.5 million a year ago.Bookings were strong in the quarter with good growth in the U.S.,Asia-Pacific/Japan and developing markets, while Europe continued to be impactedby some macro weaknesses.EMEA revenue grew 19% year-over-year, representing 15% of total revenue forQ1. And Asia-Pacific/Japan grew 40% year-over-year, representing 17% of totalrevenue. On a sequential basis, the U.S. was the primary driver of Q1 growth."We delivered a strong first quarter with 21 percent revenue growthyear-over-year and our fourteenth consecutive quarter of record revenue," saidDominic Orr, Aruba's president and chief executive officer. Russia's MegaFon says that it has completed the previously announced deal tobuy the LTE network operator, Scartel/Yota.MegaFon is currently deploying its own LTE network, but also has a reselleragreement with Scartel. A full merger of the two networks should reduce costsfrom a lack of overlapping coverage.In the end the company paid US$1.18 billion for the LTE network, plus itsdebt. Azerbaijan's Azercell Telecom is expected to get a 3G license after PresidentIlham Aliyev reportedly instructed the Communications Minister to arrange it.Currently, only Azerfon has a 3G operating license, having paid 11,000 manat(US$13,681) last December.Communications and Information Technology Minister Ali Abbasov said as farback as December that if Azercell's bid for a 3G licence was in order, thelicence would be granted within three days. In April he said that allAzerbaijan's mobile communications operators would get 3G licenses in thesummer.The company said that it can launch the service in early 2011, if it isgranted the necessary permissions.The Mobile World database notes that there are three GSM operators,along with one CDMA operator in the country.
